Sick (Fit) Notes
Learn how to request a sickness certificate
If you've been off sick for 7 days or less
If you’re off work for seven days or fewer, you don’t need to provide a fit note or medical evidence of illness.
However, your employer may ask you to complete a self-certification form (SC2), which they can provide or which can also be downloaded from the HMRC website.
If you’ve been off sick for more than 7 days
If you have been off work for more than 7 days in a row, you will require a sick/fit note.
